The school year has ended, so now it's that magical time when you can finally read for leisure. A lot of great books have come out while you’ve been busy building that diorama or studying for your next Biology exam.
Lucky for you, your school librarians have put together some amazing summer reading lists to help you get caught up. You can view the lists and the book availability on the Recommendations for Teens page.
In the past, these lists were available to you at the Library, in print form, and divided by the school you attend (Maine East, Niles North, and Niles West). This year, with current safety concerns and our community in mind, we are making sure all of the titles are available in digital form.
Keep reading to learn about the different ebook platforms you can use to access high school reading lists.
Ways to get reading this summer
You will need a Morton Grove Public Library card to get started downloading ebooks. If you don’t have one, apply online and your new library card number and password will be emailed to you.
- OverDrive: Every book from each high school’s summer reading list is available on OverDrive for download. Access them on your mobile device using the Libby app or on your computer.
- Axis 360: You can find many (but not all) summer reading titles on Axis 360 too. Similar to OverDrive, you can download the Axis 360 app and read on your phone, tablet, or reading device or read on your computer.
- Hoopla: Hoopla has no holds, so when you see an item in the Hoopla catalog you can download it immediately on the Hoopla app or your computer. Be sure to visit the Recommendations for Teens to find what titles from your high school are available instantly on Hoopla.
Visit the Download & Stream page to learn more about our different ebook platforms, watch instructional videos, and access “How To” guides.
I encourage you to start downloading immediately because these are the best, most complete summer reading lists I’ve seen since I started working at the Library. And be sure to call, email, or chat us if you have any issues getting a card or downloading books. We’re here for you when you need us.
